Unloved, Unused Supplies

I used really old supplies for this card.  How about 38 years old.  I've had my quilling supplies since I've been 13.  I think I'll use this card for my mom for Mother's day.  My quilling tool is really high tech, a needle glued into a cork with the end of the eye of the needle cut off.  I think I paid 50 cents for it.  This is the original shoe box I kept the stuff in also.  My goal this year was to make cards using different techniques, so here's one of them.

  5. You certainly didn't lose your quilling skills over time -- the card is just lovely! I have a hard time letting go of crafting supplies, too. Your mom will be thrilled to receive this card.

  6. I know how tedious quilling can be, which is why I dropped it like a hot potato. Beautiful card! If I made that, I'd have a hard time giving it away!

  8. WOW! What a beautiful card! I think quilling is so pretty, but have only tried it once at a Girl Scout event with my daughter. I didn't do it after that because I didn't want to buy the tools. Thanks for sharing your tip. Maybe I'll give it a try. Did you use a heavy needle like for darning or yarn?

  9. I think it's just a normal size needle. It's not a big one, you wouldn't get a tight center if you used a big needle. I bought this thing in the early 70's.

  12. Hi Cindy, I saw your comment on my quilling and didn't know if you had seen this post. Actually, I haven't quilled much in the past two years as I think I really burned out on quilling since my daughter's wedding. I sat and did nothing but quill for 5 months, but I was happy with the end result. In case you didn't see it, here is a link to my blog post: http://trinitypaperarts.blogspot.com/2010/02/as-i-had-indicated-earlier-this-week.html
I might start again - at least I have been thinking about it. Quilling just doesn't fair well for OWH cards though and that is where my heart is right now.

Thanks for mentioning that. Blessings, Louise
